#194.
07-13-07 London UK: 2342 hrs. Today was amazing. We had Paul
Fox at practice. He’s the guitar player in The Ruts. For Thursday
and a good part of today, we had two stand-in guitarists because Paul
is not able to do much due to the level of pain he’s in. We
thought it best to get the three of us up to speed and then have Paul
come in and do the songs to see how it sounded. He came in around
1500 hrs. walked right in, set up and plugged in his original guitar
from back in the day, cranked the volume easily twice as loud as we
had it before and said let’s go. Well, ok! We laid into Something
That I Said and it was mind-blowing. The other guitar players are
great but no one sounds like Paul, no one. All of a sudden, I am in
the room with The Ruts. We ripped through the set and if we can pull
it off like that on Monday night, look out. Playing with the three
of them was one of the most moving experiences of my short life. When
he hits the heavy part of the song S.U.S, it’s insane.
