BROADCAST #20
AIR DATE: 05-13-08
Chào Fanatics, all the way from Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam! It’s
a little warm, make that very warm but after a couple of weeks in SE
Asia, I am getting somewhat used to it. This is the last pre-taped show
for some time and next week, buckle up because we’re going to
go all the way live. The last several days have been a real eye opener.
If nothing else, I think people should see the parts of Cambodia I saw.
Great beauty and great brutality and sadness. Wonderful people and some
awful history. In Phnom Penh, I went to one of the many killing fields
and saw what’s left of the graves the thousands of bodies were
dumped into. The rains had come and moved the soil around somewhat so
more bones, clothes, teeth, buttons and whatever else were all over
the place. It was a hell of a thing to walk around in, I have never
been in a place like that before. There’s a lot more I want to
see in Cambodia. It took me a long time to get some time to see a little
of this part of the world and I’m glad I did. It has given me
more to think about than I was ready for. The briefest breakdown on
the music, what you have here is one of our tried and true mixes of
old and new. The AK Process single is hard to come by so I threw that
in, Jethro Tull?! What the hell, I love that song. I can’t believe
it took us this long to get to a track from Ween’s country album
but there that is, the Yes Collapse track will curdle your milk and
the rest I think you will enjoy/tolerate quite well. If you liked that
Rain track, that CD is very limited and you will want to go to the Dischord
site and grab yourself a copy before it’s gone forever. Oh yes,
I am sure you’re noticing the micro concept being perpetrated
on you in tracks 01 to 05. Just trying to keep you with me. Next week
we’ve got all kinds of goodies. There’s new Diamanda Galas,
Fall to check out, should be good. Oh yes, and this: If all goes according
to plan, I will be taking over Steve Jones 12 – 2 pm shift for
the week starting June 23rd. That will be one strange week, I don’t
usually do radio with the sun out! The station offered it to me and
I really find it hard to say no to radio stuff so I said of course.
It will be nothing like what we get into with our show because I don’t
think the average listeners can handle the speed at which we fly so
I’ll downshift it a little so they don’t crash their cars
in Anaheim. Fanatics, next week, it’s your favorite Sonic Jihadists,
Engineer X and yours truly, back together again to light it up so please
tune in and until then and always, STAY FANATIC!!! --Henry
