Tonight's set is all about that aggro. I came up with the idea for playing the Turkish Koran recital recording at the last minute, I thought it would give the overall some theater. There were points while the music was playing where I figured there's no way I'm not losing my job at this station. There are some people who are not armed with a sense of humor and you never know how they're going to take things. Over the last four years I have had to learn to laugh at a lot of things, foreign policy, outsourcing, but seriously folks. . .
This coming week will be intense to say the least. I hope it's a clean and decisive win no matter who it is. Let there be no argument and finger pointing. Fat chance. I think the Florida 2000 thing will cast future elections in doubt. I hope we can all be patient and clear thinking in the upcoming days.
I’m going to go vote after I get off work on Tuesday. I can’t wait. Thanks for listening. -- Henry

Public Enemy - Welcome to the Terrordome:
From the Fear of a Black Planet album. What an amazing piece of work. The whole album is great. Chuck’s huge voice still gets me whenever I hear him.
Ruts - Babylon’s Burning: I have played the Ruts before. No bad songs as those of you who have their few recordings will most likely agree. If you’ve never checked out the band’s classic album The Crack, it’s a must-hear.

AC/DC - Highway to Hell:
Nothing needs to be said. Perfect song, perfect album.

Slayer - Death’s Head: I have heard that Slayer’s next record will be produced by Rick Rubin. He’s done many of the band’s other records and it’s always a good thing. I have all the Slayer records and no one really gets as much out of the band as RR. I am looking forward to the record. I always look forward to a Slayer record. What’s there not to like?

Black Sabbath - War Pigs: When the band reformed in 1997 and played those two shows in Birmingham UK, I was there and on the first night when they came out and opened with this, one of the greatest songs of all time, the entire place went nuts. What a great night. Seeing what’s happening in American foreign policy these days, there’s never been a more perfect song to play.

Clash - White Riot: I remember Joe Strummer telling me once how hard Sony was trying to get the Clash to do a reunion tour and how dead set against it he was. I think that’s so cool because it would have done really well financially and the music would have been fine but it wouldn’t have been the real thing and it’s great that the band realized their time and place and let the music and history do the rest.

The Puppies - I’ll Kick Your Ass: It’s your favorite and frequent guest Heidi and her marvelous band. We’ve played this song before but I thought it fit the aggro theme of our pre-election FM jihad jam.

Alice in Chains - The Rooster: This song is off the classic Dirt album. What a great album. One of the great albums to play too loud. It’s a shame about singer Layne Staley no longer being around. What a great voice.

Black Flag - Revenge: I brought in the best and my favorite Black Flag CD, The First Four Years and reckoned the right track to play would speak to me at broadcast time. I should have played the whole thing. It clocks in at the low twenty-some minute mark and says more than most bands do in an entire career. This is the one Black Flag CD you absolutely must have.

UK Subs - Bomb Factory: A band that I have been listening to for a quarter century now. The first four albums are great and I still play them all the time. This song is off the 2nd album Brand New Age.

Slayer - Angel of Death: From Reign in Blood. What’s Slayer doing getting two songs on the list? Am I getting paid off? With a war on and an election that will easily be contested by the losing side, Slayer makes sense.

Suicide - Rocket USA: This is from the live album Ghost Riders. Great live set by Suicide. Coolest track on this record is a song called Sweet White Lady. It’s about heroin and to my knowledge, it’s not on any other Suicide album.

Ramones - Commando: This is one of the songs I sang at that Ramones thing in September. Off the Leave Home album. If you don’t have this one by now, you’re missing out on one great album.

Lightnin - Hopkins – Awful Dream: Engineer X liked this song so much he actually borrowed the CD to copy it. Now that’s sayin’ something. This is from Lightnin’s Mojo Hand album. Re-issued on the Collectable label. It’s my favorite Lightnin’ record. This song in particular is stand out. In the lyric, Lightnin’ talks about having a dream about someone dropping the bomb. Time to watch Dr. Strangelove again.

Black Sabbath - The Mob Rules: What?! More Black Sabbath? A damned outrage! I think this is one of the all time great riffs. I listen to the Dio-era Sabbath all the time. Great records. If you listen to the lyrics, you can see that Dio nailed down the state of things. Hey, he lives in the Valley, right? Let’s all drive by after the show and give him a Hail Satan, what do you say?!

The Mark of Cain - Point Man: From the band’s very awesome Ill at Ease album. I produced this album and it was a joy to work on. Such great riffs and playing. The band hails from Adelaide Australia.

Bad Brains - The Regulator: From the Black Dots album. This album was a demo recorded in August of 1979. It made the rounds as a poorly copied cassette. We played it all the time. I saw them play for the first time a few weeks before they made this recording. They opened for the Damned and it was one of the most mind-blowing musical experiences of my short and stunted life. What a band. I think if they had released this in 1980, it would have made a huge impact on the independent music scene world wide.

Slayer - Warzone: Slayer, are you kidding me? I couldn't resist. It's so cool to hear that sound come slamming into the mix every twenty minutes. From the God Hates Us All album.

Discharge - Fight Back: I remember getting this band’s first single and playing it to death. We played with them once in Canada in 1982 and they were really good live and cool guys as well. There’s a singles collection on CD on the Clay record label that’s really cool. I don’t know if it’s still in print. I have had this CD a long time now. Worth checking out if you liked what you heard here.

Saint Vitus - War is Our Destiny: I remember when the lyrics of the song were different. Scotty used to sing “Sad wings of destiny” instead. Isn’t that a Priest song? Anyway, they did a little re-write and I always thought it was one of their best songs. Live it used to kill. This was a great band to see. I had a lot of fun at those shows.

High on Fire - Baghdad: I figure this is a great way to finish tonight’s pre-election angst broadcast. This is from The Art of Self Defense album and it’s a monster all the way from start to finish.
