Fanatics! Good evening. It’s a great show tonight and I hope you like it. I figured we would do a warm weather set of music. Sort Sol is an interesting band. They are from Denmark and in a previous life, they were called The Sods. They made on album under that name called Minutes To Go. Sort Sol is a different thing than The Sods, both are great but there’s a lot more Sort Sol to check out. I reckon my favorite single album if theirs is the Dagger & Guitar album. I think it was in 1984 when the band gave it to me. It was a test pressing and I am glad I was able to hang onto to it somehow through all the moving around I did in those days.

I know I have been playing a lot of music from the Teenbeat label lately. It’s the weather. I am very subject to temperature. When the weather heats up, I start to crave bands I don’t even think of in the dead of winter. I try to be very careful with our show. I try to balance it between music I am obsessed with, new stuff and also, making an effort to keep things balanced and well out of control!

The Dirty Dogs track, here’s the deal on this one. Sorority Girl is taken from a really great, newly released album called Rocky Mountain Low. The album is a compilation of underground bands from Colorado from the late 70’s and features not only some really good music but also features some pre-Dead Kennedys Jello Biafra that’s getting its airing for the first time on this release. br> The other night I was driving back to Los Angeles and was listening to Liza Richardson’s show on KCRW FM, home of Pie-In-The-Face-Mondays, home of The Bear. LR played a track from the new Horrors album, same one we’re checking out tonight. I noticed the breakdown section of the song sounded familiar lyrically and then I realized they were utilizing the lyrics of She Cried, which I have only heard Rowland S. Howard’s version of the song. I figured we could use a double dose of Rowland’s guitar tonight, so we’re checking out the Rowland track as well as a Birthday Party track, where as you know, he was the guitarist. Both The Horrors and Rowland tracks are great and I hope you like them.

I am loving this mix! I remember the first time I heard White Light/White Heat. I wasn’t ready for it. I came back around a little while later though.
